PARENT ORGANIZATIONS
Governing Board
The Governing Board is a committee legislated by the Government, in which equal numbers of parents and Staff are represented. The objective of this committee is to make decisions locally that are in the best interests of each school’s students. The mandate of the Governing Board is to discuss proposed policies which affect the daily routine of Merton students. Decisions are made regarding such items as building security, field-trips and the school budget. According to the Education Act, elections for parent members whose two year term has expired must take place in September of each year, at the call of the Chairperson of the Governing Board.

Home and School Association
The Merton Home and School Association manages the fundraising needs for Merton activities, and relies on the active involvement of many, many parents. If you can make time to help, you will make an invaluable contribution to school life. We are confident you will find it a rewarding experience. To become involved, please attend the monthly meetings. The Home and School Association publicizes the dates and times of their meetings to all parents throughout the year.
The Home and School Association offers programs such as the After-School Activities (ASA) and Enrichment classes.
