EMSB recognizes Volunteers of Distinction and presents Lifetime Achievement and Alumni Recognition Awards
On the occasion of National Volunteer Week April 19 to 25, the English Montreal School Board held a special reception and ceremony to honor three Volunteers of Distinction. In addition, a Lifetime Achievement and a Alumni Recognition Certificate Awards were presented.
Minister of Health Visits
Liberal MP for Papineau and Federal Minister of Health Marjorie Michel visited the four EMSB schools in her constituency: Sinclair Laird and St. Raphael in Park Extension and  John F. Kennedy High School and Adult Education Centre in St. Michel. She toured the facilities and spoke to staff.
French Women’s National Ice Hockey Team member visits FACE
Emma Nonnenmacher, a forward with the French Women’s National Ice Hockey Team and a student-athlete with the Concordia Stingers, recently visited Grade 3 students at FACE Elementary School to share her Olympic journey.
Bill 21 in the Supreme Court of Canada: EMSB defends the constitutional rights of official language minorities and women
The English Montreal School Board made representations on the unconstitutional nature of Québec’s Bill 21, An Act Respecting the Laicity of the State, before the Supreme Court of Canada. The EMSB’s submissions focused on minority language education rights and gender equality.

French Immersion

Bilingualism has many cognitive benefits that go beyond those of language acquisition such as heightened mental flexibility, creative thinking skills, enhanced metalinguistic awareness as well as greater communicative sensitivity.

The aim of the Physical Education and Health program at Merton is to help our students to develop the skills, knowledge, and values needed to establish and enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle.

We believe that technology offers tremendous opportunities for learning, infinitely expands the walls of the classroom, and makes available wonderful resources that our students can and should take advantage of.
