Dear Kindergarten Parents/Guardians,
Welcome once again to Merton’s Kindergarten! This is your introduction to your child’s first days of school in early September of 2025. We provide a progressive entry that requires some planning on your part. The purpose of these days is to ease the transition to elementary school and to introduce your child to the classroom and school routines in a gentle way. The children will only be in school for shorter days, as you will see below, and will need to be brought to school and picked up – no bus or daycare service will be available on those days. The plan is as follows:
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2025
We will meet in the gymnasium. Entry through the FRONT entrance of the school.
- 9:00 to 9:30 – Meet in the gymnasium, greetings, divide students into 2 groups.
- 9:30 to 11:00 – Parents stay in the gymnasium with the principal for a Q&A and to fill out the WTK questionnaire.
- Students will spend time in each classroom and meet both teachers – groups are not assigned to a specific class at this time.
- Students will be returned to the gymnasium to meet their parents.
Students should bring a healthy snack.
There are neither bus nor daycare services on this day.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2025
- 9:00 – Entry through the JUNIOR Entrance, parents please stay outside the gate.
- 11:00 – Parents pick up their children at the JUNIOR Entrance.
- Students will spend time in each classrooms and spend time with both teachers.
Students should bring a healthy snack.
There are neither bus nor daycare services on this day.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2025
Please follow the same plan as on Wednesday.
Students should bring a healthy snack.
There are neither bus nor daycare services on this day.
The first full day of school will be on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 from 7:57 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. On this day, class assignments are permanent.* Arrival time is between 7:50 and 7:57, at the JUNIOR entrance. Please pack 2 nutritious snacks for your child and a full lunch. Your child will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m from the Junior entrance if you are picking him/her up. Bus service and daycare service start on this day.
* Small additional changes to the composition of classes may be made throughout the first full week of school, at our discretion, with the best interest of the students in mind. Changes during these days could save your child a lot of difficulties later, please help us help them by supporting their adjustment to any such changes.
Please make sure your child and her/his teacher BOTH know the end of day plan for your child EVERY DAY so they can follow them appropriately.
We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!
