Director General’s Message - November 4, 2024
We are the largest English public school board in Quebec and I could not be more proud of our success in spite of the challenges we face. We succeed precisely because we prioritize our students.
Joe Ortona re-elected EMSB Chair; candidates sweep all 10 seats
Voters within the territory of the English Montreal School Board have cast their ballots for the choice of chair and commissioner in 10 wards. There was an approximate 22 percent voter turnout. Joe Ortona was re-elected chair while his candidates swept all 10 seats.  
Documentary launch marks beginning of Children’s Grief Awareness Month
With November recognized internationally as Children’s Grief Awareness Month, the English Montreal School Board is partnering with Myra’s Kids Foundation to sensitize youth and staff about the reality of children’s grief.
Red Carpet launch for much anticipated children’s audio book
A total of 175 English Montreal School Board students were front and center on Wednesday, October 30 at the official red carpet launch for the illustrated children’s audio book and CD of The Adventures of Eva The Louse at the Palace Convention Centre in Laval.

French Immersion

Bilingualism has many cognitive benefits that go beyond those of language acquisition such as heightened mental flexibility, creative thinking skills, enhanced metalinguistic awareness as well as greater communicative sensitivity.

Physical Education

The aim of the Physical Education and Health program at Merton is to help our students to develop the skills, knowledge, and values needed to establish and enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle.

Science & Technology & Robotics

We believe that technology offers tremendous opportunities for learning, infinitely expands the walls of the classroom, and makes available wonderful resources that our students can and should take advantage of.
